You’re Not Lazy, You’re Burned Out
Share
If you’ve been calling yourself lazy for skipping workouts, stop. It’s not laziness. It’s burnout and burnout needs care, not shame.
Your body isn’t built to be “on” all the time. When you’re juggling work, family, and a to-do list that never ends, it’s no wonder you don’t feel like crushing a workout. That doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human.
How to Tell It’s Burnout, Not Laziness:
-
You want to work out, but you feel physically drained.
-
You’ve been under stress for weeks or months.
-
Rest days turn into rest weeks because you’re mentally and physically tapped.
How to Move Through Burnout (Gently):
-
Lower the bar. Trade “an hour at the gym” for “10 minutes of stretching.”
-
Choose soothing over punishing. Walks, yoga, or light weights count.
-
Listen to your body. Some days, rest is the workout.
You can’t pour from an empty cup but you can refill it. And sometimes, the bravest workout you’ll do is giving yourself permission to rest.
Rest. You deserve it.
