Stop Waiting for Motivation: It’s Not Coming (And That’s Okay)

If you’re waiting for motivation to hit before you move, you might be waiting forever. Motivation is unreliable. Action isn’t.

We’ve been told we need to “feel ready” before we start. The truth? You rarely feel ready. You just start anyway and the feeling follows.

Why Action Beats Motivation:

  • Action creates momentum. The hardest part is starting. Once you begin, the energy builds.

  • Motivation fades. Even the most excited feeling will dip. Action can be consistent.

  • Small wins fuel bigger wins. One set of squats today makes tomorrow’s workout easier to start.

How to Break the Waiting Game:

  1. Shrink the task. Instead of “I have to work out,” say “I’ll move for 5 minutes.”

  2. Pair it with a habit. Do it right after brushing your teeth or making coffee.

  3. Don’t overthink it. If your shoes are on, start moving.

You don’t have to want to work out to start. But once you start, you’ll be glad you did. Movement builds momentum and that’s the real secret.
