ADHD Wins & WTFs: Because sometimes we’re thriving and sometimes we put the milk in the pantry.

Living with ADHD is basically a highlight reel of random brilliance, awkward chaos, and unexpected emotional plot twists. Some days, I feel unstoppable. Other days, I forget how doors work.
So here it is: a running list of wins and WTFs from my very real ADHD life.
Wins: The Moments I Felt Like a Functional Human
Completed a task the moment I thought of it with no list, no reminder, just immediate action. (???)
Hyperfocused on cleaning out one drawer… which led to organizing the entire room.
Spontaneously made a healthy meal and didn’t burn it.
Washed a load of laundry and remembered it was in the washer before the mildew set in.
Had a good cry, sent a difficult email, and still showed up to the gym. All before 7am.
These aren’t small things. These are superhero-level feats in ADHD world.
WTFs: The Moments That Made Me Say “Really?”
Forgot the name of a student I’ve had for 7 months. Mid-conversation.
Started cleaning the kitchen, found a marker, and somehow ended up reorganizing the art bin. Kitchen? Still dirty.
Wore mismatched shoes and didn’t notice until I was complimented on one of them. Singular.
Set a reminder to set a reminder, then ignored both.
Put leftovers in the microwave... and found them three hours later. Stone cold. Tragic.
Why Share This?
Because ADHD isn’t all “quirky and fun” and it’s not all “I can’t focus lol.” It’s both. It’s thriving and unraveling in the same 15-minute window.
I don’t share this for pity or praise. I share it because if you’ve felt the same, the high highs, the frustrating lows, the random wins and confusing flops, you’re not alone. You’re not broken. You’re just wired differently.
And that wiring? Comes with some firepower when you learn how to work with it.
Celebrate the wins. Laugh at the WTFs. Both are part of the story.
And please remember, be kind to yourself. Everyone’s carrying something, even the ones who seem like they have it all together. You’re not alone, not really.
We all have our own version of muck. Some people are just better at hiding it.
So be you. That’s more than enough.
